Ho – Ho – Ho?? or Bah!! – Humbug!!!??

Whatever your point of view, there is something about a market in snowy conditions that evokes memories of childhood Christmases?!!  At least for me and my lovely lady!!  We had a busy weekend, firstly at Ballater on the Saturday which was particularly lovely in the snow – cold but beautiful!!  Not as busy as we would hope for but a satisfying number of customers and friends nonetheless!!! It was the last market of the year and we’ll not be going back there until April 2018 when the first market of that year will be taking place!!

Our second venue of the weekend was at The Cullen Bay Hotel on the Sunday, where they were holding the World Cullen Skink Championship contest.  We had a huge table in a room off to the side of the event – warm and dry at least!! – along with a few other traders forming a small Christmas food fair.  It was a fairly long day but it was hugely entertaining and the folk that attended were like minded, well travelled people who took a great interest in our produce!!  We met a lot of new customers and made a few possible new friends, which is always a good thing!!  A wonderful day and our sincere thanks to all the crew at The Cullen Bay Hotel for their hospitality and fabulous food!! They have truly deserved their championship award for the best Cullen Skink – I have tried a few around the North East but theirs is absolutely awesome – rich, thick, loads of fish and way too much cream — but I didn’t let that get in the way of finishing the bowl!!!  Thanks Guys & Gals!!!

Next Saturday, 2nd December 2017, we are at Huntly Farmers Market with over 20 other traders for the normal market day but, there is an extra Christmas Market on Sunday 17th December in the Stewart Hall in Huntly which promises to be a good event and we hope to see all you lovely people there too??!! At least that will not be influenced by weather conditions – unless of course the roads are blocked with snow????  Now I’ve jinxed it??!!

Anyway, to finish off, I would like to mention that we have several great ideas for gifts for friends and loved ones which we will be displaying on our table at both events. We also now sell a small selection of different cheeses from The Damn Fine Cheese Company to accompany your selection of our delicious chutneys and relishes – but only at a select few of our markets!!

Take care, stay safe and see you at the markets!!!!
